Celebrating the Life and Achievements of Ravenscraig Union Hero Tommy Brennan

The motion

That the Parliament mourns the sad passing of Tommy Brennan, but celebrates his life and achievements; understands that Tommy was widely known and respected for being the convenor of shop stewards at Ravenscraig steelworks, and leader of what it considers as the fight to try to save the Scottish steel industry in the 1980s and 90s; notes that, following the closure of Ravenscraig, Tommy became a trustee of the Scottish Steelworkers Memorial Fund; understands that, in 2014, he was an active campaigner for Scottish independence, during the referendum campaign; sends condolences to family and friends, and believes that Tommy’s legacy will live on to inspire future generations.
