Lodged by Collette Stevenson (Scottish National Party) Standard Motion 19 supporters

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates James Lundy, an East Kilbride school pupil, who won Living Streets competition to design new badges for pupils who take the walk to school challenge; understands that over 90,000 primary school pupils entered the competition and that James’ wildlife-inspired work was one of only nine winners chosen by the Design Council; commends Living Streets for its work to encourage more pupils in East Kilbride and across the country to walk, cycle, scoot, and park and stride to school; considers that making more active travel choices will help reduce car usage and congestion around the school gates, which, it understands, could improve safety and cut air pollution levels; encourages as many parents and pupils as possible to make more active travel choices; notes that pupils who walk, cycle, scoot, and park and stride to school at least once per week for one month will win a badge, and wishes James the very best for his future.
