The motion

That the Parliament notes that 7 to 13 February 2022 marks Children’s Mental Health Week; understands that the week is run by the children’s mental health charity, Place2Be, and focuses on the importance of looking after emotional wellbeing from an early age; notes that the theme is "growing together", and that Place2Be is encouraging children to consider how they have grown, what they need to help them grow and how they can help others to grow; understands that one in six children and young people in the UK have a diagnosable mental health condition, and that 50% of those with lifetime mental health problems first experience symptoms by the age of 14; considers that no child or young person should have to face mental health problems on their own, and calls on MSPs to help raise awareness of the importance of children and young people’s mental health.
