The motion

That the Parliament pays tribute to former Grangemouth Councillor, Pat McCafferty OBE, on the news of his passing on 5 February 2022; believes that Mr McCafferty has been described by those who knew him as a true gentleman, who cared passionately about his communities and constituents; understands that he dedicated over 50 years to serving the people of Grangemouth, and that he was initially elected to the Central Regional Council and then as the Councillor for the Dundas/Kerse ward, before stepping down at the 2007 Local Government election; further understands that following his retirement from elected politics, Mr McCafferty continued to work with a number of organisations in support of his former constituents and people across the Falkirk district, including the Citizens Advice Bureau in Grangemouth and Bo’ness, Forth Valley Sensory Centre, Grangemouth Enterprise, and the Order of Malta Dial-a-Journey, as well as chairing Talbot House Grangemouth Old People’s Welfare Committee, the Grangemouth Heritage Trust, and Friends of Zetland Park group; remembers what it sees as the impact and legacy of a true community champion for Grangemouth, and sends its condolences to the family and friends of Mr McCafferty.
