The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the Angus non-profit community organisation, Kirriemuir Food Hub, and its approximately 30 volunteers, on its work to reduce food insecurity, related stigma and food waste in the area that it serves; understands that its efforts on the latter have now saved more than 20 tonnes of food, equivalent to around 40,000 individual meals, from being incinerated over the course of the last year, with this food instead being distributed via the hub’s community larder; notes what it sees as the great benefits of this work, which is carried out entirely by volunteers, as well as those afforded by the hub’s registration with the Hubbub Community Fridge Network and its pop-up cafes with recipe tips, and commends its approach to seeking ways to reach even more people in need and involve more of the local community in the hub’s activities.
