MorphFit Gentle Movement Project
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Lanarkshire social enterprise, MorphFit Gentle Movement Project Ltd, on winning the Enterprise and Innovation category at the VASLan Third Sector Awards 2021; understands that MorphFit Gentle Movement Project Ltd was established by Kenneth Muir, as he had personally experienced a gap in suitable rehabilitation services when recovering from a cancer diagnosis; further understands that the Project is a fully-funded, community-focussed exercise programme, which was established during the COVID-19 pandemic to deliver online support to older people and people with acknowledged health issues, including cancer and multiple sclerosis; understands that by building working partnerships with third sector organisations, including the Beatson Cancer charity, Kenneth, Ashley, Nicola and Carol are supporting approximately 70 people each week in the programme, at no cost to the individuals; notes that the goal of the Project is to help improve general wellbeing, physical and mental health and provide social stimulation and interaction; believes that MorphFit Gentle Movement Project Ltd has responded innovatively to the challenges presented by the pandemic by bringing a new level of connectivity to individuals, particularly older people, who may have been previously digitally excluded; congratulates the Project for its insight and enterprise, which, it believes, bridged the health activities gap until onsite rehabilitation services could recommence; wishes MorphFit Gentle Movement Project Ltd well with its future endeavours, which, it understands, includes delivery of the MorphFit App to make its services more accessible, as well as moving forward with a mix of online and in person activities, and recognises that, coming out of the pandemic, for some people, attending in person will not be possible.
