The motion

That the Parliament notes that 7 to 13 February 2022 marks Tinnitus Awareness Week; understands that tinnitus is reported in all age groups, including young children; further understands that tinnitus is more common in people who have hearing loss or other ear conditions; acknowledges reports that around 30% of people will experience tinnitus at some point in their lives; further acknowledges research indicating that approximately one in eight people live with persistent tinnitus; expresses concern at reports that, while most people with tinnitus are able to continue their normal day-to-day activities, a small percentage are severely affected by the condition; understands that the exact cause of tinnitus is often unknown, and notes calls from British Tinnitus Association for the establishment of a tinnitus biobank to help improve our understanding of tinnitus and aid efforts to find a cure.
