Kurt Zouma

The motion

That the Parliament condemns the actions of Kurt Zouma, the Premier League footballer at West Ham United who it considers callously and with premeditation tormented one of his cats by throwing and kicking it, in a way it believes replicated his actions with a football, and chasing what it considers must have been a terrified animal, as well as slapping it in the head for, it believes, his and others entertainment; understands that this was then posted on social media, which alerted the RSPCA and others to his actions; expresses relief that the RSPCA has now reportedly removed the two cats from his household for welfare reasons and to pursue its own investigation; considers that West Ham United, while aware of these actions, should not have permitted him to play, and that a fine of £250,000, representing what it sees as an eyewatering two weeks' pay, is insufficient; believes that his professed remorse is wholly insufficient, and hopes that he is either banned from owning any other animal, or undertakes never to own one again.
