Calderbridge Primary Reading School Accreditation
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Calderbridge Primary School in Coltness on becoming the first accredited Reading School in Lanarkshire; understands that the Reading School initiative is an accreditation programme for schools that are committed to building a culture of reading for their learners and communities; further understands that the school formed a literacy leaders’ group made up of staff and pupils to help evaluate, develop and run several book-related events to promote the programme; notes what it sees as the importance and positive educational impact of reading on young people; thanks the staff, parents and carers for what it sees as their dedication to helping children and young people grow and learn successfully; congratulates the pupils and staff at Calderbridge on this achievement, and encourages everyone to follow their example and explore and discover the joy in reading for pleasure, education and wellbeing.
