Betty McDonald from Prestwick

The motion

That the Parliament applauds Betty McDonald, from Prestwick, who organises and runs Recycle Saturday for members of the community; understands that the event takes place on the first Saturday of every month and allows people to drop off hard-to-recycle items, including blister packs, used stamps, and kitchen utensils, which would all otherwise go to landfill; further understands that Betty and a dedicated team of volunteers also accept donations such as bedding for women’s shelters, and bras, which are sent to developing countries; congratulates Betty on raising what it sees as the important issue of hard-to-recycle items, which, it believes, is pertinent to the recent discussions surrounding COP26, and wishes her the very best for the future.
