Lodged by Emma Roddick (Scottish National Party) Standard Motion 14 supporters

The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the opening of the Inverness Creative Academy, the largest creative workspace facility in the Highlands, in the newly converted, historic Inverness Royal Academy Buildings on Midmills Road; understands that the project consisted of two phases, the first, which focussed on converting the first of the two buildings to house 44 visual and applied artists, and the second, which was completed in February 2022 and features state-of-the-art office, hot-desking and remote working facilities, spaces open to the public and a new cafe, which is operated by Café de Paulo; congratulates Wasps Artists' Studios, which has managed the project since its inception; thanks Wasps’ Foundation Partners Highlands and Islands Enterprise, National Lottery Heritage Fund, Garfield Weston Foundation, Inverness Common Good Fund, Creative Scotland, Historic Environment Scotland, The Highland Council, The Scottish Government, Inverness City Heritage Trust, Foyle Foundation and many more organisations and individuals for their support of the project, and notes what it sees as the importance of high-quality community spaces for the creative arts to the local economy and cultural life in the Highlands and Islands.
