WWF Protecting Blue Corridors Report

The motion

That the Parliament recognises the Protecting Blue Corridors report, which was published by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF); understands that it highlights the multiple and growing threats that whales are encountering within their critical ocean habitats and along the blue corridors that connect these habitats; further understands that Scottish seas often pose risks to whales including through fishing gear entanglement and ship strikes; believes that the Scottish Government must continue to play its part in delivering ocean recovery by securing sustainable fisheries, minimising bycatch and introducing mitigation measures to tackle entanglement, and considers that protecting blue corridors will not only benefit endangered species of whales, but also maintain ocean health and our global climate.
