Louise Caldwell’s Campaign for Dedicated Facilities for Women Experiencing Unexpected Pregnancy Complications
The motion
That the Parliament pays tribute to East Kilbride resident, Louise Caldwell, for what it sees as her tireless campaigning on behalf of women who have experienced miscarriage and baby loss; understands that Louise's petition calling for dedicated maternity units for women experiencing unexpected pregnancy complications has collected over 30,000 signatures to date; further understands that Louise's experience of giving birth in a room next to families with new-born babies, after a scan had revealed her own baby had no heartbeat, added to her distress; believes that this experience will be familiar to many women throughout the country; welcomes the Scottish Government Women's Health Plan, which commits to establishing a dignified, compassionate miscarriage service, tailored to the needs of women, and calls for plans to roll out dedicated maternity facilities for women experiencing unexpected pregnancy complications to be accelerated across all health boards.
