The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the news that the 200-year history of the Royal Highland Show will be highlighted across Scotland for eight days over a four-week period, from the 9 March to 1 April 2022; is enthused that, as part of the "Royal Highland Show Illuminated" project, this history will be projected onto Alloa Tower, on 23 March 2022, between 7.00 and 9.00 pm; believes that this spectacular, immersive installation will include expressive imagery, woven together with never-before-seen treasures and untold stories from the show's archives; notes that the tour is intended to reference how the Royal Highland Show used to tour each of the Royal Highland and Agricultural Society of Scotland (RHASS) regions annually and, it understands, will visit these original eight regions in Scotland where the Show used to occur before settling permanently at Ingliston in 1960; further notes that, lighting up landmarks in each locality for an evening, the free-to-attend projections will last for five minutes and will be played 12 times over the course of that evening, and commends the RHASS on what it considers the unique way of marking the Royal Highland Show’s 200th anniversary and further highlighting the Show's positive impact on the rural economy of Scotland.
