North Lanarkshire Young People Raise Awareness of Children’s Rights #MakeitRight
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates pupils from schools across North Lanarkshire who successfully launched a campaign to raise awareness for children’s rights; understands that the nine-strong group developed, created and appeared in the multi-media campaign, Make it Right, to encourage other young people to know about their rights; further understands that they used the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), which covers all aspects of a child’s life and sets out the civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights that all children everywhere are entitled to; understands that the new campaign will be seen on social media, outdoor billboards and other digital platforms and features the young people themselves, including a specific video campaign to pass on the children’s rights message using #MakeitRight, and further understands that the initiative was developed through the North Lanarkshire Children’s Partnership and North Lanarkshire Council’s Future Fridays programme, utilising the Summerlee Heritage Museum to come together and bring the campaign to life.
