Vision Taekwondo Club Go for Gold

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Vision Taekwondo Club, who are based in Wishaw, on winning six out of nine gold medals at Horizon Championship in Halifax; recognises the achievement of the team, especially when it managed to prepare for the tournament in just under four weeks due to COVID-19 restrictions; understands that it is currently preparing to host the next UK tournament in March 2022, as well as organising several of the group to compete in tournaments across the globe; further understands that World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) Taekwondo has been in the Olympic Games since Sydney 2000 and believes that it is one of the most systematic and scientific Korean traditional martial arts, which teaches more than physical fighting skills; believes that it is a discipline that shows ways of enhancing the spirit and life through training the body and mind; considers that their success will now inspire many across Wishaw and Motherwell to take up the sport, and wishes Vision continued success in the future as they look to build on what it sees as this incredible achievement.
