FIlmG Awards 2022
The motion
That the Parliament commends all nominees for the Gaelic short film awards FilmG; congratulates all winners of the awards announced on 25 February 2022; notes that the nominees included An Clas Camelon, a Gaelic learners class based in Falkirk district, with members across the world from Grangemouth to Ascension Island; understands that the class offers beginner and intermediate Gaelic for adults and regularly provides song workshops with singers such as Gillebrìde MacMillan, Maeve Mackinnon and Robert Robertson; believes that the class has been established for over a decade in person, moving online in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic; understands that the theme of this year’s FilmG competition was Lorg, meaning to find or search; further commends the members of An Clas Camelon on being nominated, some of whom have only been learning Gaelic for over a year; recognises what it sees as the tireless efforts of Diane and Campbell Macintyre in running the class, and wishes everyone involved continued success in maintaining the life and importance of Gaelic in Scotland's communities.
