Lodged by Stuart McMillan (Scottish National Party) Standard Motion 15 supporters

The motion

That the Parliament notes that Gerry Morrison, 73, from Port Glasgow, has received bravery awards from Police Scotland and the Scottish Government for, it understands, fighting off an attacker who stabbed a local housing officer employee in Greenock’s Clyde Square offices in 2019; understands that Gerry’s selflessness earned him a Pride of Scotland award in 2021, and that he has now picked up a Police Public Bravery Award, on behalf of the National Police Chiefs’ Council, after being nominated by former Inverclyde Commander, Debbie Reilly; recognises that Gerry has also been honoured with a St Andrew’s Award for exceptional bravery, delivered on behalf of the First Minister; commends Gerry’s efforts to raise awareness of the impact of knife crime on people’s lives following his experience, and thanks him for his bravery, which, it believes, ultimately led to the housing officer employee’s life being saved.
