The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the announcement that Robert Gordon University, which is based in Garthdee, Aberdeen, has launched its therapeutic photography postgraduate course; understands that this online course is designed to give professionals the opportunity to earn an academic qualification to use photography in therapeutic treatments; further understands that the course is considered to be the first of its kind anywhere in the world; understands that the course stems from the knowledge, expertise and experience of, Dr Neil Gibson, senior lecturer at RGU’s School of Applied Social Studies and the course leader, who has written a book on the subject and has used photography as part of therapeutic treatment to support bereaved individuals who lost loved ones to COVID-19; appreciates what it sees as the vital role photography can play in supporting vulnerable people through the use, interpretation and understanding of images, and passes on its best wishes to the university, course organisers and participating students for every success in the future.
