Subsea Expo 2022
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the return of Subsea Expo to Aberdeen, following its absence during the COVID-19 pandemic; understands that Subsea Expo is the world’s largest subsea conference, with over 2,000 guests and 110 companies having attended the event from 22 to 24 February 2022; notes that Subsea Expo is organised by the Global Underwater Hub and that the event is in its 15th year; understands that the 2022 theme was Oceans of Opportunity and that it aimed to enable discussions around how the north east can be at the cutting edge of the underwater industry, which, it believes, is set to see significant growth in the future; further understands that a group of over 100 school pupils were invited to learn about career prospects within the subsea sector; understands that the winners of the Subsea UK Awards were announced in a ceremony on the second day of the event; believes that the event enables valuable networking opportunities and cross-sector cooperation within the industry, as well as with the defence industry, and welcomes the technological innovation and economic growth that the event stimulates.
