Everyone Aboard
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the Everyone Aboard campaign, led by the Poverty Alliance; understands that the campaign calls for the extension of concessionary travel to all bus passengers under the age of 25, and to passengers in receipt of low-income benefits; notes that the recent extension of concessionary travel does not include 22- to 24-year-olds; believes that average bus fares have increased by almost one fifth in the last five years; considers that affordable, reliable and accessible public transport can help ease financial pressures on the travelling public and open up opportunities for work, education, training and leisure, and therefore calls on the Scottish Government to extend concessionary travel further, to 22- to 24-year-olds, and to consider a further extension in concessionary travel to passengers in receipt of low-income benefits, as part of its Fair Fares Review.
