First Bus Announces New Electric Vehicles for the Granite City
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the recent announcement that First Aberdeen is to increase its zero-emission fleet by an additional 24 electric vehicles; notes that the vehicles are scheduled to be introduced by Spring 2024; understands that, once the additional vehicles become operational, First Aberdeen’s fleet will be made up of 30% zero emission vehicles; understands that approval of Scottish Zero Emission Bus Challenge Fund (ScotZEB) funding will see major infrastructure developments across both Aberdeen King Street and Glasgow Scotstoun depots; understands that, in 2020, First Bus pledged not to purchase any new diesel buses after December 2022; notes what it sees as First Bus’s continued commitment to operating a zero-emission bus fleet by 2035, and believes that the announcement of new electric vehicles will see benefits for customers and allow First Bus to offer greener and quieter bus travel to customers across the Granite City.
