Celebrating International Women’s Day in Agriculture
The motion
That the Parliament recognises International Women’s Day in the context of agriculture; understands that women continue to be under-represented in rural Scotland; notes the new #BreakTheBias social media campaign, which, it understands, has been launched with an aim to showcase the huge role that women in British farming play; understands that it calls on all farmers to share a photo of themselves proudly celebrating the female farmers in their life on social media; commends the work of the many Scottish agricultural organisations and charities, such as Women in Agriculture Scotland, who promote women to forge a career in agriculture, and urges the Scottish Government to do more to support women in agriculture, especially new female entrants.
