Garnock Valley Help for Ukrainian Refugees

Lodged by Katy Clark (Scottish Labour) Standard Motion 16 supporters

The motion

That the Parliament commends the efforts of residents of Garnock Valley, in North Ayrshire, working together with the management committee of Beith Community Centre, in the coordination of collections of vital medical supplies, warm jackets and baby essentials for Ukrainian refugees; understands that what started as a small local collection has now grown across the area and that the community centre has located further storage space with a view to keeping the collection going as long as it is needed; recognises what it sees as the community spirit of North Ayrshire residents, together with people across the country; understands that a local haulier has been located, who will help transport the goods to the Polish border, but believes, however, that there is an urgent need for clearer guidance and assistance from the UK Government regarding the paperwork needed to clear customs at Dover, to get these emergency supplies to where they are needed.
