Morton Launch New Mental Health Initiative
The motion
That the Parliament applauds Morton in the Community for teaming up with the Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL) Trust, the Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAMH) and Movember UK to launch The Changing Room, which is a new initiative to tackle poor mental health in Inverclyde; notes that the 12-week programme aims to encourage men, aged between 30-64, to talk and share their problems; understands that SAMH will deliver some of the sessions and that Morton in the Community hopes to invite guest speakers to the Wednesday night sessions; commends Greenock Morton’s community team on its continued efforts to address poor mental health and suicide in Inverclyde; believes that football can be a hook to help men open up about their mental health, and wishes the group all the best as they embark on this new project.
