Townsend Theatre Productions, Commemorating the UCS Work-in

The motion

That the Parliament notes the current tour of the play Yes! Yes! UCS, produced by Townsend Theatre Productions, which celebrates the "work-in" at Upper Clyde Shipbuilders in 1971-72; further notes the support for the tour from the trade unions EIS and Unite; commends all those involved in its creation and production; celebrates the way in which, it believes, women's experiences are central to the play, making a valuable contribution to women's history; understands that the play is performing to full audiences; notes that it will be in venues around Scotland during March and April 2022, including the North Edinburgh Arts Centre on 27 April 2022; congratulates the two lead actors, Heather Gourdie and Janie Thomson, on their achievements; further congratulates Janie Thomson as a recent graduate from Edinburgh College Granton, and encourages everyone to support the creative arts as a key way to enriching communities and people's lives.
