St Patrick's Day Festival 2022
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the commencement of the St Patrick’s Day Festival in Coatbridge; notes that this is the first festival to take place since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020; understand that, although the street festival will not take place this year, there are many events being held through the week, including lecture series, quizzes, and musical performances; praises the efforts of this year’s organising committee despite numerous hardships; understands that Coatbridge has had incredibly strong links with Ireland, with the 1851 census registering 36% of the population as being Irish born, and that Coatbridge, and Scotland as a whole, continue to be home to a large Irish diaspora; notes the shared history both Scotland and Ireland have had across millennia, and wishes continued friendship between these two spirited neighbours for millennia to come.
