Celebrating Pakistan Day in 2022
The motion
That the Parliament acknowledges 23 March 2022 as the anniversary of both the signing of the Lahore Resolution by the Muslim League at the Minar-e-Pakistan, which formally called for independence in 1940, and of the adoption of the Constitution of Pakistan, when it transitioned from a dominion to become the first Islamic republic, in 1956, thereafter establishing 23 March as Pakistan Day; welcomes what it sees as the progress of Pakistan as a democratic country, and extends its good wishes to all Pakistanis in Scotland, and across the world, in marking Pakistan Day.
