Congratulations to East Kilbride's Maureen Potter, Nominated for Scotswoman of the Year 2021

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates East Kilbride’s Maureen Potter, who has been nominated for Glasgow Times Scotswoman of the Year 2021; notes that the prestigious award started in 1963 and is one of the UK’s longest-running of its kind; acknowledges what it sees as Maureen’s tireless work on behalf of Friends of Langlands Moss; believes that it has helped save a vital peat bog, transforming it into a globally-important nature reserve at the forefront of the fight against climate change; considers that, despite having recently turning 80, Maureen's tireless work continues to help protect the 130,000 tonnes of carbon which is stored at the nature reserve, and that her passion for educating people for conservation and wildlife continues to inspire many, and wishes her well with the finals.
