Solidarity with Ukraine, Scottish Football Supporters Association Campaign for the Ukrainian National Team
The motion
That the Parliament commends the campaign by the Scottish Football Supporters Association (SFSA), which it understands is urging football authorities to grant the Ukraine national team automatic entry to the 2022 Qatar World Cup Finals; understands that, following Russia’s violent and illegal invasion of Ukraine, all Russian clubs and national teams are suspended from participation in both FIFA and UEFA competitions until further notice; agrees with the SFSA that the international football community should support giving Ukraine a bye to the World Cup Finals, as a supreme act of solidarity with the people of Ukraine; welcomes the fundraising friendly game between Scotland and Poland at Hampden Park on 24 March 2022, where £10 from each ticket sale will be donated to UNICEF’s emergency humanitarian appeal for Ukraine; condemns in the strongest possible terms the Russian regime's illegal invasion of Ukraine, and calls for an immediate ceasefire and the full and complete withdrawal of Russian forces from Ukraine.
