Tributes Paid to Bert Boyd
The motion
That the Parliament notes with great sadness, the passing of much-loved and respected Inverclyde community champion, Bert Boyd; understands that the 86-year-old was a stalwart of church life across the area, devoting himself to helping others through projects such as Inverclyde Youth for Christ and Inverclyde Peace Initiative; further understands that this work won Bert widespread recognition and honours, including the British Empire Medal and the Queen’s Jubilee Award; appreciates that Bert’s valued community work was recognised closer to home when he was named Inverclyde Volunteer of the Year in 2013, and in 2014 Bert took part in the Queen’s Baton Relay in the run-up to the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow; believes that Bert’s volunteering has had a positive impact on the people of Inverclyde, and sends its condolences to his friends and family during this difficult time.
