Expansion of Close the Gap's Equally Safe at Work Employer Accreditation Programme
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the expansion of Close the Gap’s Equally Safe at Work employer accreditation programme, following, what it understands, was a successful pilot with seven local authorities from 2019 to 2021; commends the nine local authorities across the country, including Glasgow City Council, who, it understands, have committed to participating in what it sees as the world-leading programme in 2022; understands that over 70% of women reported having experienced or witnessed sexual harassment in the workplace; considers that addressing gender inequality in the workplace is an important step in tackling wider gender inequality, which, it believes, is a cause and a consequence of violence against women; believes that creating a zero-tolerance culture to violence against women in the workplace and in wider society should be a priority, and is supportive of a national-level roll-out of the accreditation programme across all local authorities in the future.
