Single Parents Day
The motion
That the Parliament notes that 21 March 2022 was Single Parents Day; recognises that this day is a chance to show appreciation for the single parents in people's lives and communities, while calling on single parents to celebrate their own strengths and triumphs, however big or small; understands that single parent families make up 25% of all families in Scotland and that, sadly, stigma and judgemental attitudes around single parent families is still an issue; considers that Single Parents Day 2022 is a chance to turn that stigma around and tell people about the amazing achievements that single parents accomplish for themselves and their families every day; welcomes hearing about the stories of these achievements made by single parent families on this national day, and commends One Parent Families Scotland for its advocacy on this subject.
