The motion

That the Parliament recognises the reported worsening cost of living crisis and the impact that this will have on what it sees as the already unacceptable levels of child poverty in Scotland, including in the West Scotland region; welcomes the report, Tackling Child Poverty and Destitution, by the Trussell Trust and Save the Children, and notes their recommendations on how child poverty and overall deep poverty can be tackled; further notes the view that the Scottish Child Payment should be doubled again to £40 in the current parliamentary session, and that an awareness campaign is needed to ensure that all of those who are eligible apply for the payment; notes the calls for the value of the Scottish Welfare Fund to be increased to allow it to respond to the reported cost of living crisis, and further notes the view that a review is needed to eliminate regional variations in acceptance of applications to the fund and the value of grants paid out.
