World Theatre Day 2022
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes World Theatre Day 2022 celebrated on 27 March; notes that World Theatre Day was designated by the International Theatre Institute (ITI), in 1961, to celebrate the essence, beauty, and importance of theatre arts, their significant role in entertainment, and the symbolic impact that theatre has on life; believes that this day also serves to inform any governments, politicians, institutions, and stakeholders around the world who have not yet realised the value of theatre to the people and its potential for economic growth; recognises what it sees as the huge strain that theatres have been under since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, and considers that support must be provided wherever it can to keep these centres of culture thriving for generations to come.
