Launch of the South of Scotland Employment Rights and Advice Service
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the launch of the new South of Scotland Employment Rights and Advice Service, run by a consortium of the four Citizens Advice services in Central Borders, Dumfries and Galloway, Peebles and District, and Roxburgh and Berwickshire, and funded until June 2023 by Citizens Advice Scotland and The Robertson Trust; understands that the project will have advice available on a range of employment rights, including redundancy, maternity and paternity rights, sick leave and pay, disciplinary and grievance process, and terms and conditions of employment; notes that this advice is not only targeted at employees but will also offer training to small businesses, which may have little other opportunity to engage with HR providers, to support them in developing fair work policies and procedures and potentially alleviate future issues; believes that both employers and employees understanding their rights and the law in this area is beneficial, and wishes all involved every success with the project.
