Troon’s Bank of Scotland Branch Closure
The motion
That the Parliament notes the announcement by Lloyds Banking Group regarding the closure of its Troon Bank of Scotland branch; further notes that Troon is set to lose its last remaining bank, upon which, it understands, many of Troon’s residents rely in terms of queries and in-person transactions; understands that Troon’s branch is one of 19 branches in Scotland that are reportedly being closed by the parent company Lloyds Banking Group; recognises what it sees as the devastating impact that bank branch closures have on local communities, where they play an essential role; considers that any closure will have a significant impact on local residents; understands the growing demand for online banking across the country, which, it believes, inevitably results in fewer customers and in the closing of branches; further understands that the Troon Bank of Scotland branch is set to close on 21 September 2022; considers that this is terrible news for the Troon community, and particularly the staff of the branch, and wishes them all the best for the future.
