Lodged by Audrey Nicoll Standard Motion 2 supporters

The motion

That the Parliament commends over 970 NHS Grampian employees who, it understands, travelled more than 216,000km by foot, a combined total of 284,587,427 steps, over a four-week period; understands that the total distance was the equivalent of 14 times the distance between the UK and Australia; commends NHS Grampian, and the Scottish walking charity Paths for All, on their success in increasing staff uptake for the challenge for the third year in a row, which consisted of dozens of teams across the health board and five from one GP practice alone; recognises the role that active travel plays in reducing emissions, and further notes the estimated 3,994kg of CO2 that it believes were saved by NHS Grampian employees during the Step Count Challenge; wishes to highlight the upcoming nationwide Step Count Challenge, which is open to all businesses, and runs for eight weeks, from 2 May 2022; notes that NHS Grampian will be participating in Sustrans Scottish Workplace Challenge; commends Paths for All, NHS Grampian and all other participants for taking part in the initiative, and passes on its best wishes for continued success in upcoming events.
