The motion

That the Parliament congratulates community group, Uddingston Pride, for keeping the South Lanarkshire town looking beautiful for 20 years; understands that Uddingston Pride has delivered a range of community initiatives over the years, including planting more than 300 trees and countless flowers, promoting the benefits of gardening, educating on botanical matters such as how to care for green spaces, and undertaking litter picks; considers that Uddingston Pride has been integral to Uddingston’s success in achieving awards such as gold status in Beautiful Scotland and Britain in Bloom competitions, and understands that Uddingston Pride’s work at Uddingston Train Station, as part of Scotrail’s "adopt a station" campaign, was highly commended, which included arranging and maintaining hanging flower baskets and flower planters on the station platforms; further considers that community groups, such as Uddingston Pride, are vital for maintaining urban green spaces, supporting community cohesion and neighbourhood friendships, enhancing wellbeing, inspiring volunteering and developing community connections, and that these roles are particularly important both during the COVID-19 pandemic and as Scotland builds back after the pandemic; celebrates the achievements of the volunteers involved with Uddingston Pride, and sends best wishes for their future "green fingered" endeavours.
