Prògram Choinnich, Gaelic-language Radio Programme, Concludes After 29 Years

The motion

That the Parliament notes the news that Prògram Choinnich, a daily Gaelic-language topical programme broadcast on BBC Radio nan Gàidheal, has come to an end; understands that the programme, presented by Coinneach ‘Mòr’ MacÌomhair (Kenneth Maciver), recorded nearly 7,000 episodes over 29 years; recognises what it considers to be the enormous contribution made by the programme to Gaelic broadcasting; congratulates Coinneach MacÌomhair, the wider administrative and support team, and BBC Radio nan Gàidheal, on delivering the popular programme, which blended light-hearted reflections and fun with debates, discussions and deliberations about the news, and wishes the Gaelic radio station success as it launches a new schedule featuring new voices and more shows for young people.The Member has provided the following Gaelic translation: Prògram Choinnich a’ tighinn gu ceann an dèidh 29 bliadhna Gu bheil a’ Phàrlamaid a’ toirt fa-near gu bheil Prògram Choinnich, prògram chuspairean làitheil air BBC Radio nan Gàidheal, air tighinn gu crìch; a’ tuigsinn gun deach faisg air 7,000 clàradh, air an lìbhrigeadh le Coinneach ‘Mòr’ MacÌomhair, a dhèanamh thar 29 bliadhna; ag aithneachadh na tha i a’ meas mar an dìleab phrìseal a chruthaich am prògram do chraoladh Gàidhlig; a’ cur meal-a’-naidheachd do Choinneach MacÌomhair, an sgioba rianachd agus taice, agus do BhBC Radio nan Gàidheal, airson prògram fèillmhor, làn deasbaid, còmhraidh agus cnuasachaidh air naidheachdan is caran an t-saoghail, a lìbhrigeadh, agus a’ guidhe gach soirbheachas don stèisean radio agus e a’ seòladh clàir ùir anns am bi guthan ùra agus susbaint do dhaoine òga.
