Great Place Falkirk

The motion

That the Parliament commends the efforts of staff and volunteers involved in the Great Place Falkirk project, which, it understands has been funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and supported by Falkirk Community Trust, Visit Falkirk and Falkirk Council; understands that one of the achievements of the project, is the Falkirk Explored app, which contains walking trails and ideas for hikes around Falkirk district, coupling information on the heritage and history of the area along the way in both written and audio form; further understands that new trails are still being added, including an exploration of the science and engineering behind Grangemouth flood defence system, which, it understands is changing the landscape of the town, and a historic trail between Maddiston and Standburn, which explores the heritage of coal and energy production in the area, which, it understands has been developed alongside the Falkirk Science Festival, the Renewable Energy Institute and includes contributions from local people, and the Avonbridge and Standburn Community Council; encourages people from across the country to visit Falkirk district, download the app and explore what, it believes, is the country's beating industrial heart, and sample the great place Falkirk district is; wishes everyone involved in Great Place Falkirk the very best for the future, and looks forward to welcoming visitors from across the country and beyond.
