Keep Scotland Beautiful's Spring Clean 2022

The motion

That the Parliament welcomes Keep Scotland Beautiful’s Spring Clean 2022, which began on the 21 March 2022 and will run through to the 21 April 2022; understands that it is creating an opportunity for the people of Scotland to make litter clearing history up and down the country in a bid to keep villages, towns, countryside and beaches litter-free; further understands that Keep Scotland Beautiful’s research has revealed that 88% of people in Scotland agree that litter is a problem across the country, including at some of the most beautiful sites, and 70% are concerned about litter in their area; commends local authorities, such as North Lanarkshire Council, for assembling teams to go out every day to help keep North Lanarkshire a clean and attractive place to live, learn, work, invest and visit; recognises the efforts of many residents and community groups who regularly organise clean-ups that help an area look cleaner and feel safer, restoring pride to local environments, and applauds Keep Scotland Beautiful’s Clean Up Scotland Map, which, it understands, connects like-minded individuals who wish to improve their local neighbourhoods.
