The motion

That the Parliament commends fundraising efforts taking place across Shetland to aid people in Ukraine, including Shetland Solidarity with Refugees' pop-up shop, which, it understands, raised over £16,000; understands that individual appeals for Unicef by Kate Niesciur and the British Red Cross by Councillor Ryan Thomson, raised over £5,000 and over £9,000 respectively, and that there was also a bric-a-brac sale by St Margaret’s Church in Lerwick for Caritas International; notes upcoming community fundraising events in Unst and Cunningsburgh, as well as planned fundraising concerts in Lerwick featuring the local band, Odesa, which will be playing Ukrainian music alongside other local musicians; wishes all fundraisers success, and welcomes the part that all contributions and voluntary input from around Shetland, from individuals, organisations and businesses, are playing to aid people affected by the humanitarian crisis occurring in Ukraine.
