Irvine Man Runs 100 Miles in One Day
The motion
That the Parliament commends Richie Harkin from Irvine for running 100 miles in one day in an effort to raise money for charity; understands that Richie decided to take on the monumental challenge in memory of a friend; further understands that he has raised £600 for Scottish Families Affected by Alcohol and Drugs, which, it understands is a non-profit organisation, which supports families and friends of those who are affected by someone else’s alcohol or drug use; understands that he started his challenge at Irvine Beach Park on 3 February 2022 and completed the 100 mile ultra marathon in 21 hours, supported by members of Ayrshire Trail Runners; congratulates Richie on what it sees as this selfless act, and wishes him the best for the future.
