The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Bowhouse Primary School on its successful fundraising efforts to support those fleeing Ukraine; understands that the learners in P4 to P7 completed their nine-mile fundraising walk around the Helix Park in Falkirk and P1 to P3 their shorter walk around the local area; further understands that pupils from the school, Amelia Johnston, Zoe Laing and Harvey Edwards, came up with the idea to raise funds and show support for children like them after being impacted by the attacks on Ukraine by Russia; recognises what it sees as the importance of the collective fundraising efforts of the school through their sponsored walks while highlighting the plight of the people of Ukraine through creating, distributing and wearing ribbons, and collecting items such as colouring books, pencils and crayons to send to Poland in aid of those children displaced by the conflict; considers that these efforts show the importance of acting locally to help and support those elsewhere in the world, confirming, what it believes, is a commitment to collective responsibility on global matters; commends everyone at Bowhouse Primary School on their efforts, and believes that any funding and donations of goods will help support those most in need.
