Investing in Community Justice Services in Scotland
The motion
That the Parliament recognises the importance of community justice services in Scotland; considers that community justice interventions can be a highly beneficial alternative to remand, which, in turn, can be more effective at reducing the rate of reoffending; believes that the recent Scottish Government investment of £3.2 million into remand alternatives will ensure that measures such as electronic monitoring of bail and other methods of bail supervision will be available across Scotland; supports the continued expansion and transformation of community justice services, and believes that these services help to deliver a compassionate justice system in Scotland, which will not only protect people affected by crime, but also support the fair administration of justice.
