Joe Johnston Retires from Teaching After 42 Years

The motion

That the Parliament wishes Joe Johnston a happy and relaxing retirement after 42 years as an English teacher in Port Glasgow; understands that Joe has been part of the team at St Stephen’s High School since he started teaching in August 1980; further understands that Joe is well-respected by his colleagues and that Joe taught the school’s headteacher, Alison Fanning, when she was at high school, hailing him as an inspiration to her and the school community; appreciates that Joe will be missed by his colleagues and pupils, and hopes that he enjoys travelling around the world with his wife during his retirement.
