Melrose Named One of the Best Places to Live in Scotland

The motion

That the Parliament recognises that Melrose, which is in the Scottish Borders, has been named one of the best places to live in the country in The Sunday Times Best Places to Live Guide 2022, with the Isle of Bute taking first place and Braemar, Culross, Dunblane, Glasgow Shawlands and North Berwick also being recognised; understands that the guide assesses a wide range of factors, from schools, transport and broadband to culture, green spaces and the health of the high street, with a view to celebrating improving areas and community spirit; further understands that judges specifically noted Melrose’s long association with rugby, views of the Eildon hills and its literary reputation as demonstrated by the annual Borders Book Festival, and believes that this demonstrates how much towns and villages have to offer.
