Syrian Barber Offers Free Haircuts
The motion
That the Parliament commends Mounzer Darsani, from Syria, for providing free haircuts to residents of Crosshill Gardens residential complex in Port Glasgow; understands that Mounzer wanted to give back to the community that welcomed him and his family with open arms after fleeing Syria and arriving in Scotland in 2016; further understands that some of the senior citizens were getting their first haircut since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic; notes that Mounzer has opened two Orient Salon barber shops, one in Greenock and the other on the Isle of Bute; understands that Mounzer has pledged to return to Crosshill Gardens to offer routine free haircuts for older residents, as he enjoys their company and hearing their stories; believes that Mounzer’s generosity is just one example of how refugees make a huge contribution to Scotland, and wishes him, his family and his business all the best for the future.
