Debra McKenzie - Prestwick

The motion

That the Parliament recognises the work of Debra McKenzie, from Prestwick, who volunteers for the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB); understands that Debra was diagnosed with CMV Retinitis 15 years ago and unfortunately lost her sight during the COVID-19 lockdown; applauds Debra for taking part in the Kiltwalk in Glasgow, on 24 April 2021, with her guide dog Bruce, and her friend, Karen Mathers, to raise funds for the RNIB; congratulates Debra for wishing to raise funds to help the RNIB support vulnerable people to socialise and interact with each other; understands that Debra runs a weekly walking group in Prestwick for the RNIB to help others get out and about in the community and meet new people; notes that Debra runs a book club for the RNIB and was a befriender during lockdown for other people who are visually impaired; commends Debra for all of her hard work, and wishes her every success in her efforts.
